Accuracy matters. If something on HelpForMan is factually wrong, we want to know — and we will fix it.
How to report an error
You can report a factual error in three ways:
- Use the Contact form and select Content feedback / correction as the type.
- Email [email protected] with the article URL and the specific claim you believe is incorrect.
- Include a source or reference if you have one — it speeds up the review.
What counts as a correction
We evaluate corrections for factual errors — for example, an incorrect statistic, a regulation that has changed, a process that no longer applies, or a safety instruction that is wrong. We distinguish these from:
- Matters of opinion — we aim to be practical and balanced, but framing and tone are editorial choices, not factual errors.
- Stylistic preferences — we will not change phrasing simply because a reader would write it differently.
How corrections are made
- When a factual error is confirmed, we correct it in the article body and update the article's Updated date.
- We do not silently rewrite articles. Substantive corrections are noted.
- If a correction significantly changes the meaning or recommendation of a guide, we will note this prominently in the article.
How dates work
- Published: the date the article first appeared.
- Updated: the date of the most recent meaningful change to the content. We do not change this date for typo fixes or formatting changes.
- Last reviewed: shown only when a qualified person has genuinely reviewed the article for accuracy. This date will not appear unless a real review occurred.
Time-sensitive content
Guides covering regulations, rates, prices, or legal rights are flagged for periodic review. If you notice that time-sensitive information is out of date, please let us know — this is exactly the kind of correction we prioritise.
Source standards
We cite official, primary, and reputable sources. If you believe a source we have used is unreliable or has been superseded, please let us know and suggest the preferred alternative. We will review and update the citation where appropriate.
Response time
We read every correction report. We aim to acknowledge genuine factual errors within a reasonable time and publish corrections as quickly as we can verify them.
